Golden, Seen up Close

This Week in the Foothills

GOLDEN IMAGES

If you’ve ever walked Clear Creek in the early morning, odds are high you’ve crossed paths with Golden’s own photographer Richard Lurkin, walking the town with a camera and catching the day before it fully wakes. He’s been doing these daily walks and photo shoots for years. Rain. Snow. Fog. Bluebird days. And now everyone can see what he’s been seeing.

His new show, Golden Images, opens at the Golden History Museum on November 6 (running through the spring). It’s an inspirational model of consistency, and proof that the way to get a lot of good days is to not be afraid of the bad days.

A coupe noteworthy events to check out this week:

POLL RESULT

Last week’s extremely scientific Halloween candy poll was a runaway. Reese’s cups didn’t just win –the crowd favorite absolutely bulldozed the competition, with more than 3x as many votes as the runner up. But the real plot twist? Milk duds came in second. Many of you proudly, unapologetically said “give me the chewy Carmel marbles that weld themselves to my molars” Respect, and I hope your dental insurance is solid.
Here’s how the top 3 shook out:

  1. Reeses Peanut Butter Cups - The People’s Champion

  2. Milk Duds (not gonna lie, I only put these into the vote b/c they are my fav… did not expect others to agree)

  3. Three Way Tie: Snickers, Kit Kat, and M&M’s – solid, respectable, no drama.

Starbursts received exactly zero love.
Zero. Not a single soul spoke up for them. The silence was deafening.
