Well… I gotcha last week. Any serious angler can understand you can’t be giving out the secret honey holes that hold huge fish, least of all over the internet! One of the great joys of fly fishing is in the search, and I wouldn’t want to rob you all of that experience. It’s another great week to get out and explore though. We have a rodeo rolling into town, white water festival, summer markets, and live music galore. Get it while the gettin’s good!

GIDDY UP

Pull on your boots and dust off the cowboy hat - the rodeo is stampeding into our neck of the woods this weekend! This Colorado mountain tradition has been running strong for 59 years, bringing some of the best cowboys and cowgirls to show off their skills in Evergreen.

The weekend kicks off Friday with a concert featuring Rapidgrass, an awesome local bluegrass band (I mean, c’mon, they have a song dedicated to the frustrations of driving west on I-70). Saturday's parade through downtown leads into two full days of classic rodeo events: mutton bustin', team roping, and bronc riding – plus plenty more celebrating our western heritage.

FIBARK

Feeling adventurous and want to beat the Front Range heat this weekend? Well… heading down to Salida to check out the annual FIBArK whitewater festival could be the perfect escape.

Running Thursday through Sunday, you'll experience action-packed river events like freestyle kayaking, downriver races, and the legendary Hooligan Race. FIBArK is a scene in all the best ways: craft beers, art, live music, and thrilling whitewater action.

CLEAR CREEK 🚩

Run off is in full swing, and that means our local rivers are swelling in size and can be a wee bit dangerous. Unfortunately, tubers will need to keep their prized purchases still in the box and deflated for a bit longer. Clear Creek is currently under a Red Flag warning, prohibiting swimming and tubing until the water calms down a bit. If you’re an experienced kayaker and want to get a little sporty, you can still do that. But please, tread with caution. High river flows are no joke, and even this smaller creek deserves our utmost respect.

The city updates the river status frequently, and you can check their intel accordingly.
