This Week in the Foothills

EXPLORE
Oh my gourd, the fall season is upon us (see what I did there⦠punny isnāt it). Before the snow settles in and ski season takes over, thereās still plenty of autumn left to enjoy in the Foothills. Here are a few ideas on ways to make the most of it:
Haunted Houses & Ghostly Haunts
You couldnāt personally pay me enough money to go into a haunted house. Nope, not for me. So I find it tough to comprehend why some of you all actually want to go into those god forsaken places and are willing to pay for the opportunity to be scared. Alas, to each their own. You could make a trip to Evergreenās Brook Forest Inn and search for paranormal activity. Or, check out Evergreenās scariest haunted house, Nightmare at 1520
Apple Picking & Orchards
A fall tradition as American as apple pie. Take a short drive to Ya Ya Farm & Orchard in Longmont for a classic fall apple picking day. Get yourself some apple cider, apple donuts, apple pie, or whatever else you can think of to get into the spirit.
Pumpkin Patches
Grab that pumpkin spiced latte and chase that fall charm ā Munson Farms in Boulder delivers the full fall experience: hayrides, cider, and rows of pumpkins to be picked. A little closer to home, JP Pumpkin Patch in Evergreen can get you in the spirit nicely as well.
Corn Mazes
Get lost (on purpose) in one of Coloradoās classic corn mazes. Thereās something oddly satisfying about wandering through the tall stalks on a clear and crisp autumn evening. Chatfield Farms runs a 7 acre corn maze open every Friday and Saturday through the end of the month.
Quiet Ski Town Getaway
You can have your haunted houses, this is my personal favorite. Head on up to your favorite ski town, and enjoy a laid back weekend away before the ski season kicks off. Crowds are fewer, restaurants are less busy, and lodging is less expensive. The mountains still look as majestic as always
RECIPE
With the cooler temps that have rolled in, I wanted to share a simple (and wildly delicious) recipe weāve been loving lately: Better Than Takeout Dan Dan Noodles, from Half Baked Harvest.
If youāve cooked from HBH before, you know the recipes, while amazing, can sometimes feel like a full kitchen production ā lots of steps, tons of pans, and way too many dishes. But this one bucks that trend. itās quick, packed with flavor, and you can whip it up in under 30 minutes. Perfect for a night when you want something delicious without the chaos.
