THE RETURN
Hello old friends-
I said “never say never” in the last post.
After some time away, Foothill Crew is back.
This newsletter is a strange project. Every week, you put it together and send it out into the world. You know people are subscribing and reading because the stats tell you so. But are people actually enjoying it? Is it having an impact? Or is it just another line in our already overstuffed inboxes?
I’d get the occasional email saying someone loved an edition or learned something new. But otherwise… who knows?
Then I wound down the newsletter, and the responses started pouring in.
Someone told me Foothill Crew helped him find things to do after becoming a stay at home dad. Someone else said it gave them a night out with friends when they otherwise wouldn’t have had. A 50-year Colorado local told me they were learning things about the area they never knew. A recent transplant had no idea the foothills had so much history. Someone even called it their favorite part of the week.
Wow… I guess little ol’ Foothill Crew did have an impact. Pulled on my heartstrings, that’s for sure.
But I also realized I missed it. Creating something and putting it out there. The connection to the community. Knowing what was happening each week and finding things to do with my own family. Learning about this place. Getting outside and exploring our little corner of Colorado.
So here we are. We’re back.
Thank you for reading and subscribing. And if something sticks out, don’t be a stranger. Share your stories. Share events going on. Share something you think the rest of us would enjoy.
There really is a human on the other end of this who enjoys hearing from you all.
-Tyler
FILMFEST
Our friends at Mountainfilm on Tour Evergreen are back for their 5th annual filmfest, happening October 2nd and 3rd at Center Stage in Evergreen. I was fortunate to attend last year, and it’s really a great event. Equal parts mountain stoke films and more thoughtful, thought-provoking stories.
This year, they’ll also be joined by special guest Jonathan McAfee, the proprietor of Western Exposure Fine Arts in Kittredge.
Film, Art, and Good Conversation. You can buy tickets for one night only, or heck why not both nights? Find your tickets here.
